How to Choose a Single Cup Coffee Maker

Lots of people are brewing their own coffee at home. Single cup coffee makers are getting really popular too. They are ideal because they’re quick and easy to use. The coffee is drunk right away, so it doesn’t have time to sit on the coffee maker all morning and burn.

Why To Get a Single Cup Coffee Maker

Obviously, if you don’t need an entire pot of coffee, single serve coffee makers are your best bet. You’ll save time and won’t waste an entire pot of undrunk coffee. While they aren’t environmentally friendly, you can choose single serve pod systems, you can stick a little pod in real quick and chuck it when you’re done. Less cleaning, maintenance, and hassle. You can play around with a variety of flavors and blends easily.

Two Types of Single Serve Coffee Maker

There are basically two ways to use a single serve coffee maker. In the first instance you can buy a conventional coffee machine that uses standard ground coffee via a normal filter system but which only brews a single cup of coffee at a time rather than making up a whole big pot.  Some of these machines will allow you to brew two cups of coffee instead of just one, so it’s a little more flexible. These are pretty standard and there isn’t anything particularly earth shattering about them.

If you’re looking for something more unique, you may want to think about the pod systems described above. More and more offices have these pod systems. They’re easy to use and don’t make much of a mess. They’re versatile and usually are pretty sophisticated. You just take your pod, stick it in the machine and hit a button. Many allow you to choose how much coffee you want i.e. a full cup or a half cup.

Again, versatility, ease of use, and style are why single cup coffee pods are become so popular. Of course, this does come at a cost. Coffee pod systems tend to be a bit pricier than regular coffee makers, but the convenience is sometimes worth it. Another caveat is that sometimes pods from one single cup coffee maker won’t work in another machine; not a huge deal though.

No matter which one you choose, do research online and before you make your final purchase. Chances are you’ll be happy with whatever you get, that is if you don’t have ultra-specific specifications
